The large dome-shaped projection screen called planetarium exhibits astronomy and the dark night sky. It is purely for educational and training purpose. There are five Nehru Planetarium in India situated in New Delhi, Mumbai, Allahabad, Pune, Bangalore and the first 3D planetarium in India is Swami Vivekananda Planetarium in Mangalore.

1) Birla Planetarium, Kolkata

A circular structure built in an Indian style similar to Buddhist Stupa is none other than Birla Planetarium and it is the biggest planetarium in Asia which is the second largest planetarium in the world. In India there are 3 Birla Planetarium, first one is Birla Planetarium in Kolkata and the other two are the Birla Planetarium in Hyderabad and Birla Planetarium in Chennai.

In Kerala, one of the best Science and Technology Museum is Priyadarsini Planetarium is situated at the center in the main city of Thiruvananthapuram and the planetarium provides science exhibition, dark night observation, and mobile astronomy.

9) Anna Science Centre, Tiruchirappalli

In Tiruchirappalli, Anna Science Center planetarium is situated which has an environmental gallery, with telescope and ecosystems to get a good view of the moon, sky, and sun.

10) Kusumbai Motichand Planetarium, Pune

This place has a unique Y-shaped architecture and the first projection planetarium in Asia. It is one of the ancient and continuously operating planetaria in the world.
