Nofollow would provide some control to specific external links like as webpage which you don’t necessarily endorse or an internal link that you don’t want the bots to access or index.
Noopener is a trait which gives you control for webpage performances and security when you access content on a new window, the noopener directive would block access to window.opener.
To mention, WordPress adds rel=”noopener noreferrer” to links as a default functionality.
There are several good reasons to add the tags to external links as a default option as doing so must also stop any exploitation which allows the new webpage to have control on the parent page which could cause phishing attacks and similar.
