If 2017 was an exciting year for the automotive industry, the upcoming cars in 2018, has more surprises to offer. The year comes with a whole bunch of launches in the upcoming Auto Expo. And also the rest of the year has more in store. Here we take a look at what cars to be expected in 2018.

Launched: January 11, 2018

Priced: 3.5 crore

Lamborghini has launched the SUV in India on January 11. The Urus mounts the worlds of the SUV, sports car, coupé-crossover, and even the luxury car. It can go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of about 305 kmph. In India, its price starts at 3.5 crores. This has been one of the most upcoming SUV cars in India.


New Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift:

The new Swift is lighter and quite agile than before

Expected Launch: February 2018

Expected Price: ₹ 5.5 lakh – ₹ 7.5 lakh

One of the most anticipated of launches in India. The new generation Swift is based on the new HEARTECT platform, which is lighter and more rigid than the present version. No changes could be expected regarding engines on offer, but 1-liter booster jet would see the addition of an RS model which will be sportier and more powerful. The LS 500h is the fourth hybrid car from Lexus in India

Launch: January 15, 2018

Expected Price: ₹ 1.5 crore

Lexus will introduce its sedan, the LS 500h, in a single hybrid form. The BMW 7-series and Mercedes-Benz S-class competitor would come powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and 2 electric motors that make a combined 354hp.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift:

This is the benchmark in its segment.

Expected Price: ₹ 1 crore onwards

This flagship model by the company is produced at the Chakan facility in Pune which is the only plant outside of Europe which produces the S-Class. This would have a range of new inline 6-cylinder petrol and diesel engines and a range-topping twin-turbo V8. The car has been well updated on the inside and gets a new, bigger touch screen system and also is more luxurious.


Volvo XC40:

Expected Launch: Mid-2018

Expected Price: ₹ 45 lakh

Volvo is going to the most affordable and smallest SUV in India by mid-2018. XC40 is the first model of the Volvo Cars’ new Compact Modular Architecture wand is about to underpin all other upcoming cars in the 40 Series and includes fully electrified vehicles. It also gets wireless QI mobile phone charging and Bluetooth connectivity, 9-inch Sensus Connect touch screen and a cell phone storage space.

Expected Price: ₹ 4 lakh – ₹ 6 lakh

Hyundai is about to revive the Santro nameplate with an all-new car. Upon launch, it would rival the types of Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Renault Kwid, and Tata Tiago. It is expected to have a 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre engine options, with the same petrol mills that the i10 used to provide. One of the upcoming cars in India 2018 under 5 lakhs.


Ford Figo/Aspire Facelift:

The Ford Figo and Aspire would get subtle updates this year.

BMW M5:

The M5 will comes to India as a CBU

Expected Price: ₹ 1 crore onwards

BMW would bring its performance-packed M5 super sedan to India in 2018. The sedan would be launched at the 2018 Auto Expo. The sixth generation BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that produces about 600 bhp and 750 Nm of peak torque and is the first M5 to get all-wheel drive. The M5 would supposedly cost about 1 crore rupees in India.
